Shepherd's shelter

The Cretan tradition and the daily life of a Shepherd awaits to be experienced

In this private tour we will visit a Shepherd's Shelter (Mitato) in the middle of nowhere, high in the mountains. In the beautiful nature we will experience something different, incredible and unique!

Firstly, we will drive to our destination, the traditional stone-built Shepherd's Shelter (Mitato), which is located at 848m at a slope of the renowned Psiloritis mount.

In this experience we will be welcomed in the Shepherd's Shelter and they will share with us the passion for the distinct Cretan traditions and lifestyle. The visit to the Shepherd’s Shelter offers a life-time experience to every visitor. We will have the opportunity to view the sheep milking, join the cheese-making, experience the sheep-shearing or participate in the fiesta of raki distillation (it depends on the season). We will help with the herbs collection and traditional cooking and we will indulge ourselves with the local delicacies and wine.

At the end of this life time experience we will have collected many information but most importantly many memories to talk about. Let's visit the Shepherd’s Shelter and live like a local Cretan for one day!
